Once Upon A Time In Anatolia by Nuri Bilge Ceylan

What begins as a a routine murder investigation on the sweeping Anatolian steppe turns into an Chekhovian exploration of rural life and disappointments it brings. It explores existential themes not with theatricality but with maturity, relying on symbolism and reading between the lines. It was awarded the Grand Prix award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, led by Robert De Niro’s jury.
